Nestled amidst the Sahyadri ranges near Bhivpuri Camp, Bamboo Abode is a G+2 weekend residence that explores the architectural potential of bamboo as both a structural and expressive material. Located adjacent to a seasonal river stream, the design responds to its natural setting through fluid planning, panoramic views, and a seamless connection between architecture and landscape.
The use of bamboo as the primary construction material was a key project requirement, shaping the architectural language from concept to execution. The free-flowing form is derived from the structural characteristics of bamboo, allowing its strength and flexibility to define curvilinear walls, sweeping roof planes, and continuous wraparound balconies that frame uninterrupted 360-degree views of the surrounding landscape.
The spatial programme is organised to support both recreation and retreat. Private bedroom suites are complemented by expansive social spaces, including an open living and dining area, a bar with an adjoining pantry-cum-kitchen, and generous balconies that extend the interiors into the landscape. Outdoor amenities—including a swimming pool, kids` pool, sandpit, and landscaped recreational areas—are thoughtfully integrated to create a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience while maximising natural light, cross ventilation, and visual connectivity with the site.
Bamboo Abode demonstrates how sustainable materials, structural innovation, and context-sensitive planning can come together to create an architecture that is environmentally responsive, spatially engaging, and rooted in its natural setting.
